Catching Up with Top 2015 Guard, Malik Beasely
In a new series we’re starting on Five Star Recruits, we’ll go behind the scenes to interview the top high school players in the country. Our first guest, Malik Beasely, is a shooting guard in the 2015 class out of Atlanta, Georgia. Beasely attends Saint Francis High School in Atlanta and plays for the Georgia Stars on the AAU circuit.
Beasely, who is ranked the 52nd player in the 2015 class by ESPN.com and the 137th by Yahoo and Rivals, is an athletic specimen who has the ability to get up with the best of them. With his solid build and his ability to take the ball to the hoop, colleges such as Cincinnati, Georgia, and Marquette (among many others) will be all in to get a commitment from this guard.
We were lucky enough to catch up with Malik, and we were able to ask him a few questions on his basketball life, so check this out:
Who got you first involved in basketball, and how young were you when you first started playing?
My dad used to play overseas. He played for chilie, DR, Puerto Rico. He was nice, he taught me a lot of things when I was young and I started playing at 2.
Who has been your biggest role model in your basketball life?
My dad is my biggest role model.
When did you feel like you could play basketball in college and what was the biggest thing in your game that helped you get to the next step as college-ready?
Weights and mentally got me ready for the next level. My leadership, atheltesism, my shot, can get me REALLY far! Just got to keep working on my game!
Favorite NBA Player?
Favorite NBA player would be Jordan.
NBA Player that you feel is most like yourself?
Jordan overall. Lebron physically, Kobe mentally, Chris Paul’s leadership, and Stephen Curry’s shot. Put it all together to become unstoppable. I study all of them.
What are you looking for most in the college that you will choose?
I’m looking for a great head coach that can help me in the future and that is a winning coach!
Who is the one other high school player in Atlanta you know that you have great respect for?
7. Jalen brown is one I have respect for. I started working out with him sometimes and we both have the same mind set to be the best. Great player and good friend too.
If you could describe your basketball playing-style in 1 word, what would it be?
8. One word: Unstoppable. Haha, but a better one could be scorer.
